This premium quality fixture is available with standard Power & CCT Adjustment Controls easily accessible from the fixture housing, allowing power adjustments to 100%, 80%, 60%, and 40%, and CCT adjustments to 5000K or 4000K. Additionally, GKOHBG8 is fully compatible with our Plug & Play Bluetooth Networked Controls, allowing large groups of lights to be programmed and controlled at once for more complex lighting requirements and making this light eligible for additional energy rebates.

Other options include a Plug & Play multi-level motion sensor for additional energy savings, and an external emergency battery backup that can provide up to 90 minutes of emergency operation in the case of a power outage. Pendant and conduit mounting options are available out of the box, with an optional Adjustable Surface Mounting Bracket providing additional mounting versatility by allowing the angle of the light to be precisely aimed where required.

How does the Power & CCT selection feature work in our products? Adjustable CCT is achieved by incorporating a mix of 3000K and 5000K LED chips inside the light. To arrive at the specific CCT selected by the lighting professional, the light output of the different color LED chips is adjusted to 100%, 50%, or 0%. Fixtures with adjustable power capabilities have a switch or a dial that controls the strength of the current sent to all the LED chips, which affects their overall brightness. Together, these features allow precise control over the light output of the fixture, to achieve the exact level and color of light the customer requires for their facility.

Choosing Power & CCT selectable fixtures has significant benefits for both distributors and lighting professionals. For a distributor, it can be challenging to predict which power and CCT options will be in demand at any given time. It is possible that a light with a specific power and CCT configuration doesn’t sell well, and just ends up taking up shelf space. Stocking Power & CCT selectable fixtures ensures that one product can fulfill a wide range of project requirements, which means one Power & CCT selectable fixture can replace several fixed power and CCT fixtures on the shelf. This allows the distributor to keep track of fewer products, saving time, money, and labor. Stocking Power & CCT selectable lights also simplifies the work of the sales team, minimizing the range of product configurations they have to be familiar with.

For lighting professionals, selecting LED lighting for a project is a precise art, requiring that many different aspects of a setting be taken into consideration. However, even with the most careful planning, it can be difficult to predict how a specific light will work in an environment. It is much easier to choose the precise lighting for a space when the CCT and wattage can be tweaked on site, and much simpler to adjust the light output if the customer isn’t satisfied with the lighting after the completion of the project. Additionally, for extensive projects requiring different light outputs for different areas in a facility, it is much easier to keep track of one Power & CCT selectable fixture and adjust the CCT and wattage based on the light’s location, as opposed to having to remember the exact installation location for a number of fixtures with different fixed power and CCT.

GKOLED Series GKOPL Power & CCT Tunable LED Panels feature a convenient switch on the fixture housing that allows the contractor to adjust the wattage and CCT during installation. Available in popular sizes of 2×2 and 2×4 and certified DLC Premium, these fixtures are ideal for commercial environments with recessed or suspended grid ceilings. Fixed wattage and CCT Emergency-Ready models are also available.

The new GKOLED Series GKOWPG14 Non-Cutoff Wall Pack features Power & CCT Adjustment Controls that are standard on every fixture and are safely located behind a threaded knockout in the housing. This premium quality wall pack is available with a glass or polycarbonate lens and is equipped with a quick mount bracket that eliminated the need to open the fixture during installation. Optional photocells, motion sensors, and emergency battery backups are available for this fixture.

Finally, our Series GKOHB05 Circular High Bay features a Wattage Adjustment Dial that allows the contractor to lower the wattage of the light from 340W to 300W or from 250W to 200W. This powerful, efficient high bay is ideal for illuminating large commercial spaces with tall ceilings, and is available with an optional integrated, center-mounted motion sensor.

WHAT IS CCT?

First, just what is color temperature?

Generally, any uniform white LED lighting will be perceived as white by the human eye, which naturally adjusts to different lighting conditions. However, white LED lighting is actually available in a range of subtle color variations, which become obvious when two different LED lights are placed next to each other. LED light can range from a warm yellow reminiscent of traditional incandescent lighting, to a cool bluish white resembling natural daylight. The term “color temperature” is used to describe the color cast of the light produced by a LED fixture.

Though the color temperature of a light can be identified by a name, such as “warm white” or “daylight white”, there is no consistency between names across different manufacturers. A more efficient way to identify the exact color temperature of a LED fixture is to refer to its CCT, or Correlated Color Temperature. CCT is a system of measuring color temperature that is uniform across the lighting industry, indicated in degrees Kelvin and measured on a scale from 0 to 10,000. Note that this doesn’t mean that the light fixture will be heated to the value indicated by its CCT – the number is descriptive, rather than literal.

How is CCT derived? Imagine a perfectly black object, such as iron or a piece of carbon, that is capable of being heated to extremely high temperatures. Because black absorbs all light, the only color that will be present in the object will be a direct result of the heat. When the object is heated to 1500K, it will begin to glow red. At 3000K, it will glow yellow. At 5000K, it will glow white, and when heated beyond that, it will turn blue. When we refer to the CCT of a LED light, the indicated Kelvin value correlates to the color the black object would turn if heated to the corresponding temperature. For example, a LED light with a CCT of 3000K will have the same yellow color as the black object heated to 3000K.

APPLICATIONS OF COLOR TEMPERATURE

Though which color temperature to use for a LED lighting project can be a matter of preference, different color temperatures are also useful for different applications.

A CCT of 3000K and below produces a warm light with a high proportion of yellow, similar to the light produced by traditional incandescent lighting. This type of LED light can create a comforting, cozy atmosphere that is perfect for residential applications. Our residential LED lights, including our Series GKOLS01 LED Landscape Lights and our Series GKOHSA LED Hardscape Lights, are available in 2700K, while our Series GKOFD03 LED Mini Flood Lights are available in 3000K. These lights are perfect for creating the warm atmosphere desired by many light design applications, such as uplighting and wall washing.

A CCT of 5000K and above produces a crisp white light with a high proportion of blue, comparable to natural daylight. Believed to boost concentration and productivity, LED lighting with this CCT is often preferred for commercial and industrial settings. GKOLED specializes in commercial LED lighting, and all of our commercial LED fixtures are available in a default color temperature of 5000K.

A CCT of 4000K produces a natural white light comparable to sunlight, and is a good choice for a project that requires neutral lighting. All of our commercial LED lighting is also available in 4000K, by special request.

WHAT ABOUT CRI?

The CRI, or Color Rendering Index, of an LED fixture, is used to describe the accuracy of colors rendered by the light as compared to that of an ideal light source, such as full daylight. CRI is measured on a scale from 0 to 100, with 100 corresponding to a light source with perfect color rendering, such as natural daylight. All GKOLED lighting features CRI ranging from 70 to 80, providing excellent color rendering for improved visibility.
