We work hard to be a one-stop-shop and simplify the sourcing process for all of our customers’ commercial LED lighting projects. This is why in addition to a wide variety of commercial fixtures, we also stock mounting brackets and adaptors that extend the mounting range of our lights. Our mounting accessories are rugged and durable, with sturdy steel or die-cast aluminum construction and our classic weather-resistant dark bronze powder coat finish. Check out the mounting bracket options we currently stock as well as their suggested uses in lighting projects. Our brackets are compatible with our Series GKOAL01, GKOAL04, and GKOALG6 Area Lights, and GKOFD04, GKOFD07, GKOFDG9, GKOFD08, and GKOFDG11 Flood Lights.

Angle Adjustment Adaptor:

This unique, versatile adaptor may be used in combination with an Area Light or Flat Flood Light equipped with a pole or wall mount to vastly expand the range that the light may be aimed to. Fixtures using this adaptor may be adjusted horizontally, vertically, and any combination of the two for precise aiming of the direction of the light.

Angle Adjustment Adaptor

4” and 5” Square and Round Pole Mounts:

These mounting brackets are designed to fit on the top of standard 4” or 5” nontapered square or round poles, and are compatible with Area Lights and Flood Lights equipped with a slipfitter mount. This reliable solution allows for a single light to be mounted on the top of a pole, as well as for the direction of the light output to be adjusted if necessary.

Pole Mounts

Double, Triple, and Quad Horizontal Tenon Adaptors:

Commonly utilized in parking lot lighting, these tenon adaptors enable multiple Area Lights or Flood Lights equipped with a slipfitter mount to be installed on the top of a pole, as well as for the direction of the light output to be adjusted if necessary. These adaptors are designed to fit over our 4” and 5” Square and Round Pole Mount brackets in order to fit on the top of standard 4” or 5” nontapered square or round poles.

Tenon Adaptors

90° Wall Mount Bracket:

This versatile mounting arm is used to attach an Area Light or Flood Light equipped with a slipfitter to almost any surface, such as a roof, wall, or wood pole. This bracket is a great solution when it is necessary to mount a fixture vertically, but not on the very top of a pole.

The traditional flood light is a popular fixture for a variety of uplighting applications, including billboard and display lighting, tree uplighting, and wall washing. Older versions of this fixture use COB LED technology, however, our Series GKOFD08 Traditional Flood Light has been upgraded with SMD LEDs for higher energy efficiency, while retaining the traditional style so loved by customers. This versatile flood comes in a wide range of wattages and a choice of 4 mounting options, so whether an uplighting project requires bright or more subtle light, there is a suitable GKOFD08 configuration.

Key Features

  • Available in wattages of 15W, 27W, 45W, 60W, 70W, 100W, 135W, 200W, 350W
  • Standard CCT of 5000K
  • Standard 120-277V voltage
  • 1-10V Dimming Controls for 70W and above
  • NEMA 7H*6V or 4H*4V for 135W and above
  • High efficacy of up to 143 lm/W
  • Hassle-free 5-year warranty with 50,000 hour lifespan

GKOFD08 features a rugged die-cast aluminum housing that is completely sealed against ingress from moisture or environmental contaminants, with a dark bronze powder coat finish that protects the fixture from the elements. The vented housing isolates the LED module from the driver, maximizing the fixture’s lifespan and optimizing performance. Each GKOFD08 Flood Light includes a choice of a knuckle mount, yoke mount, trunnion mount, or slipfitter mount, depending on the fixture wattage. An optional 120-277V button photocell is available for added dusk to dawn functionality and greater energy savings. GKOFD08 is UL Listed and rated DLC Premium or DLC Standard for compatibility with energy rebate programs (DLC qualification for wattages of 135W and above is pending).

Are you working on a commercial LED lighting project that requires directional lighting? Then you will need to select the lights that produce the optimal light output for your specific application. Directional fixtures, such as flood lights and sports lights, are manufactured with a wide variety of beam spreads and projection distances. To make sure that a directional fixture will work for your project, you will need to look at its NEMA light distribution pattern.

The NEMA light distribution classification system was developed by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association to provide a consistent standard of comparison for beam measurement of directional fixtures, even across different manufacturers. A NEMA light distribution is indicated by two numbers that correspond to the horizontal and vertical light spread of a fixture. It indicates the two planes of light where the light intensity is at least 10% of the maximum light intensity of the fixture (sometimes also referred to as the “field angle”). If only one number is given, it means the fixture has a symmetrical beam spread and the horizontal and vertical beam angles are the same.

A NEMA light distribution is indicated using the following format: NEMA XH x XV. H indicates the horizontal angle, and V indicates the vertical angle. For example, a NEMA 2H x 3V distribution indicates a beam angle that is 18° – 29° horizontally and 29° – 46° vertically.

NEMA Light Distribution Guide

The ideal NEMA light distribution for your project will be determined by the distance between where the light will be mounted and the area you want to illuminate. A wider beam will work best for a closer distance, whereas a longer distance will require a narrower beam. To illuminate a larger area of light, it is advisable to install fixtures so that there is overlap between the beams, since the beam of a directional fixture gets less intense the further away it is from the center.

Our Series GKOFD08 Flood Lights are available in the following NEMA distributions:

NEMA 4Hx4V (135W and up) – A tight and symmetrical focused beam ideal for illuminating facades and landscape features from further away.

NEMA 7Hx6V (All wattages) – A wide asymmetrical beam ideal for illuminating billboards, landscape features, and large facades from a shorter distance.

To ensure the success of a commercial LED lighting project, the lighting professional needs to be able to choose reliable, high-quality LED fixtures that are within the project’s budget range. However, it is equally important that the selected fixtures can effectively deliver consistent light coverage, providing safety and visibility. The light distribution pattern varies between different types of fixtures, so all lights are not equally suitable for every application – for example, a LED area light that distributes light evenly on all sides will not work for a project requiring strict control of light spillover. For the best results, it is important to choose fixtures with the light distribution that is the most efficient for the required application.

The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) defines 5 distinct types of light distribution, providing a consistent standard for evaluating the light distribution patterns of different fixtures even across different manufacturers. Many commercial outdoor fixtures, such as roadway lights, area lights, and flood lights, are available in a range of light distribution types in order to accommodate a variety of lighting requirements, and larger commercial lighting projects will often require a mix of lighting distributions to ensure optimal lighting control and coverage.

Type I

A fixture with a Type I light distribution emits a very wide, symmetrical linear light pattern, with a large amount of light on both sides of the fixture. The width of a Type I light distribution pattern will be equal to the mounting height of the fixture. Type I fixtures are intended to be placed in the center of a pathway, and are ideal for lighting sidewalks and walkways. No GKOLED fixtures currently use a Type I distribution pattern.

Type II

A fixture with a Type II light distribution emits a wide oval light pattern, and is able to light up an area that is up to 1.5 times wider than its mounting height. Type II fixtures are intended for installation on a ramp or at the edge of a wide path or street. Our series GKORL01 LED Roadway Lights are available in a Type II distribution by special request.

Type III

Also commonly called Bat Wing distribution. A fixture with a Type III light distribution emits an oval light pattern with more forward throw but less width than Type II. The width of a type III distribution pattern is approximately 2.75 times wider than the fixture’s mounting height. This light distribution is often used for roads and exterior parking lot lighting. This is the default light distribution for our Tier 1 and Tier 2 LED Area Light fixtures and our series GKORL01 LED Roadway Light fixtures, and is also available by special request for our Tier 1 and Tier 2 LED Flood Lights.

Type IV

Fixtures with a Type IV light distribution are also commonly known as Forward Throw or Asymmetric fixtures. A fixture with a Type IV light distribution emits an oval light pattern with more forward throw but less width than Type III. Because of its minimal backlight, this light distribution is ideal for applications where it is important to control light spillover, such as building exteriors and parking area perimeters. This light distribution is available by special request for our Tier 1 and Tier 2 LED Area Lights, Tier 1 and Tier 2 LED Flood Lights, and series GKORL01 LED Roadway Lights.

Type V

A fixture with a Type V light distribution emits light equally and evenly on all sides, in a symmetrical square or circular pattern. GKOLED Type V fixtures are designed to emit a square light pattern, as it delivers more efficient light coverage. Type V fixtures are intended to be installed in the center of an area to be lit, and are commonly used for large commercial parking areas. This is the default light distribution for our Tier 1 and Tier 2 LED Flood Lights, and is also available by special request for our Tier 1 and Tier 2 LED Area Light fixtures.

IESNA Light Distributions

To ensure effective, consistent illumination for an area being lit, it is important to carefully plan out every commercial LED lighting project in advance with a lighting layout. If you are unable to create one yourself, our engineers can make one for you, as well as recommend the optimal fixtures to use in your project. Contact us at 516-670-6888 or at will@jeelighting.com for more information.

GKOLED’s Roadway Lights, Area Lights, Flood Lights, Wall Packs and Dusk to Dawn Lights can help provide additional security and require reliable dusk to dawn operation. These Commercial LED Lights need to reliably turn on when it gets dark, to ensure safety, and turn off when it gets light, to conserve energy. While it is possible to accomplish this by setting light fixtures on a timer, this solution does not account for the natural changes in daylight that occur in inclement weather. Additionally, as we will experience on November 3rd, a timer will not automatically adjust itself for Daylight Saving Time.  A much more effective solution is to install a photocell, which will read the amount of ambient light and turn the fixture on or off accordingly.

To provide the dusk to dawn functionality required by many energy reduction and security lighting LED projects, GKOLED offers photocells for the majority of our Commercial Outdoor LED Lighting fixtures, some as an optional add-on and others included by default. To make this convenient for you we can pre-install the photocells at our Chicago facility by request. However, you may choose to install them yourself as our photocells are set to automatically turn a fixture on at 10-20 Lux and off at 60-80 Lux and do not require complicated programming or setup.

We carry two types of photocells for use with GKOLED’s Commercial LED Lights. Twist Lock Photocells are available in 120-277V, 348V, and 480V, accommodating different electrical requirements, and are attached to the exterior of a fixture for simple service and maintenance. Button Photocells are available in a standard voltage of 120-277V, and are installed inside the fixture with only the sensor exposed, resulting in a low profile. As always, for a Risk-Free Trial of any of our Commercial and Residential LED Lighting fixtures, contact us at 516-670-6888 so we can help you determine what LED light would be the best solution for you.
